There was no access to our department servers from the outside world this past weekend. Due to our equipment's repeated exposure to extreme heat, in the past, equipment has been failing. Last Friday afternoon the firewall hardware failed. When I found the failure I rebooted the equipment. After about an hour it failed again. My evening security class got to build a new firewall. It was late when we finished. Two students stayed with me to install it. Everything worked except the line from district. By this time it was too late to call anyone. Monday morning the system was brought up. Obviously turning the air off 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 p.m. Friday through 7:00 a.m. Monday does not save as much money today as it did back in the day.
